Renewable Resources

In 2016, CIPCO entered the field of solar energy with a 5.5 MW utility-scale solar generation project - Iowa's largest to date.  CIPCO's current generation mix is nearly 60% emission and carbon-free, and the addition of solar energy complements our commitment to providing diverse, environmentally-friendly energy to our members.

System-wide, CIPCO's solar project utilizes over 17,000 solar panels and will produce more than 7 million kWh of energy.  That's enough to fully power over 700 homes each year.
